The Casteddu celebration of Saint Efisio is the most important cultural event on the island of
Sardinia. During the 2000 edition, Patricia Bourcillier and
Bernd Sebastian Kamps, made this extraordinary report
of the people who participated in the parade.
The festivities take place every year between May 1-4 to celebrate the intervention of the Saint
when he allegedly rescued the Casteddu citizens from the plague in 1656.
The central event of the festival is a huge parade on May 1.
